Israel bans British MP Zarah Sultana from entering
Israel has banned British MP Zarah Sultana and 10 other members of the UK Parliament from entering the country. Sultana, who represents the Coventry South constituency for Your Party, called the decision a “badge of honor” and said she would not allow herself to be intimidated into silence.
Sultana’s statement
According to Anadolu Agency, the MP said she would continue speaking about what she calls Israel’s genocide of Palestinians, as well as the United Kingdom’s complicity. She said the ban had only strengthened her resolve to speak out on the matter.
Sultana also accused the new British government of continuing arms supplies, trade and cooperation with Israel. She added that she would like to visit Jerusalem one day as part of a free Palestine — a state with equal rights for all.

In addition to Sultana, the list of people barred from entering Israel includes Jeremy Corbyn, Naz Shah, Diane Abbott, Hannah Spencer, Carla Denyer, Sian Berry, Ellie Chowns, John McDonnell, Richard Burgon and Adrian Ramsay.
As the agency notes, Israel’s decision was made in response to the British government’s announcement of a ban on imports of goods from Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. Speaking in the House of Commons, Minister Ed Miliband called the move the beginning of a new approach by London toward Israel.
