Three suspects detained in Israel over attack on Japanika restaurant
In Israel, police detained three people suspected of involvement in an attack involving a fragmentation grenade on a Japanika chain restaurant in Rosh Pinna. The attack occurred on July 15, and the detentions were carried out on Monday, The Jerusalem Post reports.
Investigation into the attack in Rosh Pinna
Two of those detained are residents of northern Israel, while another lives in the central part of the country. They were taken in for questioning. Police planned to petition the Kiryat Shmona Magistrate's Court to extend their detention for the duration of the investigation.
According to police, law enforcement officers were called to the restaurant early in the morning on July 15 after a report that a fragmentation grenade had been thrown into the establishment. Investigators collected evidence at the scene and opened an investigation. Reports said the grenade exploded, shattering at least one window; no injuries were reported.

Series of attacks on chain restaurants
The attack in Rosh Pinna occurred amid a series of attacks against Japanika establishments in different Israeli cities. The chain's restaurants in Ramat Gan, Kiryat Ono, Afula and Netanya were attacked with grenades. The branch in Herzliya was shot at, while there was an attempted arson attack on the establishment in Givatayim.
Earlier, police examined whether these incidents could be linked to an escalation of the conflict between the Mosli and Jarushi criminal groups. Charges have already been filed in separate investigations into attacks on Japanika branches in Kiryat Ono and Givatayim.
