The UN has not confirmed reports that China is training Russian military personnel
The UN stated that it has no confirmation of reports regarding the alleged involvement of Chinese military personnel in training Russian troops for the war against Ukraine. The organization also emphasized the need to end external interference in the conflict.
UN Secretary-General’s spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told reporters this on Monday.
Responding to media requests to comment on the UN Secretary-General’s position regarding China’s involvement in training Russian troops for war, the spokesperson noted: “We have heard these reports. We are unable to confirm or deny them.”
At the same time, he emphasized that external interference should not lead to an escalation of hostilities.
“I think the last thing the war in Ukraine needs is more soldiers, more external interference, more external involvement. We need to see movement in the opposite direction,” Dujarric said.
He also mentioned U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent phone calls with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We have taken note of the fact that President Trump spoke with both leaders over the weekend, and we want to see an end to this conflict,” the spokesperson said, according to Ukrinform.
