Video: Mount Etna's eruption continues in Sicily

Vincenzo Bellini International Airport in Catania, Italy, has completely suspended all arrivals and departures until at least 7:00 p.m. on August 11. The decision was made by the operating company SAC due to the active eruption of Mount Etna and the release of an ash cloud into the atmosphere.

The eruption has been ongoing for several days, and ash and smoke drifting south and southwest have blanketed urban and rural roads, hills, and beaches in many towns across Sicily. Among the hardest-hit municipalities are Belpasso, Adrano, Ragagna, and Paternò. Volcanic ash poses a serious threat to road safety. Passengers are advised to check with airlines for flight status updates before heading to the airport.
