The Deputy Speaker of the Polish Sejm called for blocking Ukraine's accession to the EU
Piotr Zgorzelski, Deputy Speaker of the Polish Sejm, called for a veto on Ukraine’s accession to the EU, citing the threat to the Polish agricultural sector and competition for regional leadership.
“Kyiv’s membership in the European Union will deal a blow to the Polish agricultural sector. Furthermore, the Ukrainian side is becoming increasingly assertive, viewing itself as a regional leader,” he stated.
Zgorzelski represents the Polish Peasants’ Party (PSL), whose constituency consists of farmers, which is why his rhetoric toward Ukraine is as harsh as possible.
