On July 27, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet with the new British Prime Minister, Andy Burnham. The Ukrainian leader will be the first foreign guest of the British prime minister since he took office. During the talks, they are expected to discuss further military support for Ukraine and a possible agreement on drone production.
The leaders are set to meet at a naval base, where they will be briefed on British-led training programs that are strengthening the Ukrainian army and delivering tangible results on the battlefield.
“Britain stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, and our support remains unwavering. Russia should have no doubt about our resolve, and we will not back down until we achieve a lasting and just peace for Ukraine,” Burnam said.
According to The Telegraph, during his visit, Burnham is expected to sign an agreement with Zelenskyy that will allow Ukraine to begin mass production of the British Stone Cloak signal jammers.
These devices are mounted on attack drones to disrupt Russian air defense systems and make them harder to detect. Britain will transfer the intellectual property rights to the technology to Ukraine while continuing its own support, and both countries will use battlefield data to improve future weapons.
During the visit, Burnam and Zelenskyy will meet with more than 200 Ukrainian military personnel and sailors who have spent the last three weeks in the UK participating in the Sea Breeze exercises—training in maritime security and mine countermeasures for future missions in the Black Sea.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, Britain’s total support for Ukraine has reached 25 billion pounds ($33.3 billion), including 16 billion pounds in military aid and 5.6 billion pounds in non-military support.
