Romania has become the largest exporter of rapeseed to Germany, displacing Ukraine from the top spot.
This is according to data from the German Federal Statistical Office.
In the first half of the 2025/26 season, Germany imported about 3.1 million tons of rapeseed—more than 4% higher than a year earlier.
Romania became the largest supplier, exporting 873,000 tons. Ukraine supplied about 752,000 tons, which is 39% less than last year.
The main reason for this shift was a record rapeseed harvest in Romania, which more than doubled its production.
At the same time, the decline in Ukrainian exports is attributed to the introduction of tariffs on rapeseed and soybeans, which reduced shipment volumes to the EU.
In addition, shipments from France increased by 64%, and the Netherlands more than doubled its exports. Canada, however, reduced its volumes.
Overall, rapeseed imports from Ukraine to the EU have fallen by 43% since the start of the season, while Ukrainian oil exports are projected to increase 2.7-fold.
In Ukraine, milk purchase prices remain stable, although demand for dairy products is declining and global exchange prices are falling.
Prices for dairy products in Ukraine may decline in the near future due to an oversupply in the market.
