Ukrainian producers are expecting a good cherry harvest

Ukrainian producers are forecasting a sufficient cherry harvest this summer, and prices during the season could drop to 100–150 hryvnias per kilogram.

This was reported by UNIAN, citing Olena Kishchak, head of the breeding and technology department at the Institute of Horticulture of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences.

According to her, spring frosts did not cause critical damage to the cherry harvest in the key growing regions—the Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions. The current high prices for the fruit are mainly due to imports of early varieties from Europe.

With the arrival of mid-early and mid-season varieties of Ukrainian cherries on the market, the price of the fruit is expected to drop significantly.

Over the past year, prices for meat and meat products in Ukraine have risen by up to 45% in some areas. Beef remains the most expensive—its price continues to hover at record levels. Experts predict that by the end of winter, meat prices could rise by another 5–7%.

Inflation in Ukraine: prices rose by 0.4% in November.
