Cucumbers and vegetables used in borscht have become cheaper in Ukraine

As of July 27, prices for most vegetables used in borscht have fallen in Ukraine

Cucumbers saw the biggest drop in price—25%—while potatoes and onions also became cheaper, whereas the cost of tomatoes and carrots remained virtually unchanged.

According to data from the “Stolichny” market, cucumbers are selling for 25–35 UAH per kilogram, potatoes for 13–15 UAH, onions for 20–30 UAH, and tomatoes for 60–75 UAH. At the same time, zucchini, cauliflower, and broccoli have become more expensive.

Experts predict that by the end of the season, vegetables will remain, on average, 5–15% more expensive than last year due to spring frosts and rising production costs.
