Ukraine has harvested nearly 31 million metric tons of grain from the new crop
Ukrainian farmers have threshed 56% of the projected area planted with early-maturing grains and have already harvested nearly 31 million metric tons of grain from the new crop. Wheat accounted for the largest portion of the harvest—23.8 million metric tons—and the highest yield was recorded in the Khmelnytskyi region—69.9 centners per hectare.
This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
“As of August 18, farmers have already threshed 6,589.34 thousand hectares, or 56% of the projected area. This is more than at this time last year: in 2025, 6,186.6 thousand hectares had been threshed. In total, 30,844.07 thousand metric tons of grain from the new harvest have been harvested, with an average yield of 46.8 centners per hectare,” the report states.
Specifically, 23.82 million metric tons of wheat were harvested from 4,855.25 thousand hectares, with an average yield of 49.1 centners per hectare; 6.24 million metric tons of barley were threshed from 1,437,170 hectares, with a yield of 43.4 centners per hectare.
In addition, 295,66 thousand hectares of peas were threshed, yielding 779,02 thousand metric tons at a yield of 26.3 centners per hectare, and 1.2 thousand hectares of millet were harvested, yielding 2.7 thousand metric tons at a yield of 22.5 ts/ha.

Farmers in the Odesa, Kirovohrad, and Mykolaiv regions harvested the largest amounts of early-maturing grains and legumes.
Farmers in Odesa harvested 4.82 million metric tons from an area of 1,188.8 thousand hectares (wheat—3,223.30 thousand metric tons, barley—1,311.50 thousand metric tons, peas—284.90 thousand metric tons).
In the Kirovohrad region, 2.42 million metric tons were harvested from an area of 555,700 hectares (wheat – 1,923,800 metric tons, barley – 412,500 metric tons, peas—82,000 metric tons).
Agricultural producers in the Mykolaiv region harvested 2.33 million metric tons from an area of 653.8 thousand hectares (wheat – 1,631.80 thousand metric tons, barley – 587.5 thousand metric tons, peas—106,800 metric tons).
The highest grain yields were recorded in the Khmelnytskyi (69.9 ts/ha), Sumy (59.8 ts/ha), and Vinnytsia (59.5 ts/ha) regions.
Meanwhile, farmers continue to harvest rapeseed (spring and winter). A total of 1,318.64 thousand hectares have already been threshed, yielding 3.76 million metric tons of seed with an average yield of 28.5 centners per hectare.

The All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council (VAR) has appealed to Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi, urging him to take immediate measures to resolve the issue of blocked seaports. The association warns that a further deterioration of the situation could lead to mass bankruptcies of agricultural enterprises and a large-scale crisis in one of the key sectors of the Ukrainian economy.
