Power outages in 15 regions due to shelling and bad weather — Ukrenergo
The morning of April 7 proved to be a difficult one for Ukraine’s power grid.
According to NPC Ukrenergo, a combination of adverse weather conditions and systematic Russian attacks led to new widespread power outages in most regions of the country.
Natural disasters and their consequences
Strong gusts of wind and heavy rains caused power grid failures in the central, western, and southern regions. As of 9:30 a.m., more than 170 settlements remain completely or partially without power.
The most affected regions are:
- Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Poltava;
- Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil;
- Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Odesa, and Mykolaiv.
Repair crews from regional power companies are already working to restore power, but their efforts are being hampered by ongoing rainfall.
Energy terror continues
In addition to the bad weather, daily shelling is having a significant impact on grid stability.
Due to drone, rocket, and artillery strikes, new power outages have been reported in seven frontline and border regions: Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Kherson, and Odesa.
Power utility workers begin restoration work as soon as the security situation allows.
Although electricity consumption levels currently match those of the previous day, the power grid is operating under heavy strain.
“Today, there is a need for energy conservation in all regions of Ukraine. Please limit the use of high-power electrical appliances from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM and do not turn on several such appliances at the same time,” the company emphasizes.
Ukrenergo issued a statement regarding emergency power outages.
DTEK released footage of thermal power plants clearly showing the destruction caused by Russian aggression.
DTEK has signed a strategic agreement with the American company Turbo Drill Industries to implement the advanced Vertical Scout drilling technology. This will accelerate gas and oil production in Ukraine, reduce costs, and strengthen the country’s energy security.
