Should you think twice before using vape: a new study is shocking
Scientists have found that vapes, also known as e-cigarettes, contain 3000 times more microscopic germs than the average toilet seat. The study, conducted by BioLabTests in collaboration with online retailer Haypp, found that the warm and humid environment of the vape mouthpiece becomes a quick breeding ground for bacteria and fungi if not cleaned regularly. According to microbiologist Reynold Mpofu, these findings emphasize the critical importance of regular cleaning. Given that 5.4 million people in the UK already use vapes regularly, this issue has become extremely relevant.

The study showed that the vape mouthpiece is the most contaminated component, as the human mouth contains about 700 species of bacteria. Scientists found, in particular, E. coli and Enterococcus on the vape body. The danger is associated not only with the use of vapes, but also with insufficient hand hygiene and contact with contaminated surfaces. Therefore, experts recommend cleaning vape mouthpieces and bodies every three days.
Despite the fact that vapes are considered less harmful than traditional cigarettes, experts emphasize the unknown health risks. It is likely that vaping can affect the cardiovascular system and even pose a risk to the development of the brain of adolescents. Given the growing popularity of vapes, these studies should be taken into account in the context of the broader discussion of the safety of new forms of smoking.
