Democrats lead Republicans by 10% ahead of the U.S. midterm elections
50% of American voters plan to support the Democratic Party in the midterm congressional elections, while 40% of those surveyed are ready to vote for the Republicans. Another 10% of respondents are currently undecided.
This is according to the results of a survey conducted by Emerson College Polling.
Democrats receive their main support from women (55%), Latino voters (61%), and independent voters. At the same time, only 40% of Americans approve of Donald Trump’s performance as president, and more than half of those surveyed are dissatisfied with his decisions on the economy, immigration, and foreign policy. In particular, 53% of respondents consider U.S. military actions in Iran to be unsuccessful.
The midterm elections, in which the entire House of Representatives and part of the Senate will be up for re-election, are scheduled for November 3. Currently, both chambers of Congress are controlled by the Republican Party. Analysts note that traditionally, the incumbent president’s party loses ground during midterm elections, which creates additional challenges for Trump’s supporters.
Support for U.S. President Donald Trump has dropped to 34%, the lowest level since his inauguration in January 2025.
Prior to this, Donald Trump’s approval rating had dropped to a critical 36%, a significant decline from the start of his term, when the U.S. president had a 47% approval rating.
