Discussions will focus on regional security, trade, migration, and multilateral cooperation, as well as global challenges including the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. The EU highlights Egypt’s critical role in mediating the Gaza conflict and maintaining stability across the Mediterranean region.
The partnership, upgraded in March 2024 to a Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership, is built around six pillars: political dialogue, economic stability, trade and investment, migration and mobility, security, and human capital. The EU remains Egypt’s largest trading partner, accounting for 22% of exports and 25% of imports.
