Iran has revealed details of the compromise it proposed to the United States

Tehran has proposed to Washington that it open the Strait of Hormuz and lift the blockade in exchange for postponing negotiations on its nuclear program.

Reuters reported this on May 2.

According to a senior Iranian official, this proposal calls for an end to hostilities on the condition that the U.S. and Israel guarantee they will no longer strike Iran.

Under the plan, Tehran would open the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, while the U.S. would lift the blockade of Iranian ports. After that, the parties would return to negotiations on restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the easing of sanctions.

“Under this framework, negotiations on the more complex nuclear issue have been postponed to the final stage to create a more favorable atmosphere,” the source told the publication.

He added that Tehran considers its latest proposal to postpone nuclear negotiations to a later stage a significant step aimed at facilitating the achievement of an agreement.
