Fedorov discussed the provision of Patriot missiles to Ukraine with the Norwegian Minister of Defense

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov held talks with Norwegian Defense Minister Tore Onshuus Sandvik on the eve of a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the "Ramstein" format.

According to Fedorov, the parties agreed on priorities for further support to Ukraine and discussed key areas of defense cooperation.

During the conversation, special attention was paid to the possibility of promptly directing additional funding to the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces even before funds are received under the European loan facility.

Among the priorities for support, the parties identified the supply of long-range artillery ammunition under the Czech Initiative, missiles for Patriot air defense systems through the JUMPSTART mechanism, contributions to the PURL program, as well as funding for the production and procurement of Ukrainian drones.

Ukraine and Norway also agreed to continue coordinating the development of air defense systems and ballistic missile defense capabilities.

“Ukraine continues to systematically defeat the enemy in all domains of war: in the air, on the ground, and in the economy. Our task is to maintain this momentum, increase pressure on Russia, and bring about a just peace,” Fedorov emphasized.

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador for an official meeting and to express a strong protest. This step was prompted by Moscow’s recent statements, which contained direct threats against foreign personnel and diplomatic missions in Ukraine.

In 2025, Russia lost its status as the largest exporter of pipeline natural gas, yielding the top spot to Norway.
