Iran's foreign minister will travel to Moscow for talks with Putin

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi will visit Russia on Monday, April 27, where he plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

This was reported by the press service of the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

During the visit, the Iranian diplomat will also hold talks with other high-ranking Russian officials. The parties will discuss the current state of negotiations with the U.S., the ceasefire, and related issues.

Iran’s Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, confirmed that a meeting between Arakchi and Putin is expected.

“If there are any initiatives, both sides will hold consultations and discussions regarding them, as well as regarding joint initiatives,” he noted.

Previously, media reports repeatedly claimed that Russia was allegedly passing intelligence to Iran that could be used to target U.S. troops in the Middle East.

At the same time, U.S. President Donald Trump’s team denied such allegations, stating that they believed the assurances from the Russian side.

As a reminder, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi will begin a regional tour, during which he will visit Pakistan, Oman, and Russia.

Prior to this, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran has repeatedly violated the ceasefire since it was established between Washington and Tehran. According to Trump, there have been numerous incidents that cast doubt on Iran’s compliance with the ceasefire agreements.

Trumpexpressed his willingness to meet personally with Iran’s new leadership.

US President Donald Trump also announced progress in negotiations with Iran, under which Washington would allegedly receive all of Tehran’s enriched uranium without any financial payments.
