Iran is preparing for a possible U.S. invasion
Iran has announced the mobilization of over one million people in case of a potential ground invasion by the United States. Officials say they are ready for a tough defense and report a large influx of volunteers. At the same time, Western media report that Washington is considering scenarios for a military operation, according to Tasnim.
Iran says it is preparing for the worst-case scenario — a possible U.S. invasion. According to the Tasnim News Agency, which is associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), more than one million people have already been mobilized in the country.
This includes not only the regular army. Volunteers are actively joining, particularly the paramilitary Basij militia and IRGC units. The report emphasizes that interest among young people in joining these groups is growing. “We are ready both for their ‘suicidal strategy’ and for the Strait of Hormuz to remain closed,” a source in Iranian military circles said.
Tehran also states that it is ready to deliver a harsh response in the event of a ground operation. Some reports even use phrases like “a historic hell” for American troops in the event of an invasion.
Meanwhile, Western media report a different perspective. According to The Wall Street Journal, the U.S. is considering options for a ground operation against Iran that could begin “in the near future.”
Sources cited by Axios among U.S. officials also say that the Pentagon is preparing scenarios for a large-scale strike. This would involve not only airpower but potentially ground forces as well.
Among the options being discussed is an operation on Kharg Island, a key hub for Iran’s oil exports, through which up to 90% of shipments pass. Larak Island and Abu Musa Island near the Strait of Hormuz are also mentioned. According to media reports, these plans have already been presented to U.S. President Donald Trump. Washington has not officially confirmed the details.
The situation remains tense. On one side are Iran’s statements about mass mobilization and readiness to defend. On the other are reports about possible military scenarios being prepared by the U.S. For now, both sides are limiting themselves to statements, but the rhetoric is becoming increasingly harsh.
Additionally, over the past two days, seven vessels have passed through the Strait of Hormuz, according to TRT.
It is also reported that around 20,000 sailors are stranded due to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.
Countries are also said to be ready to act in the Strait of Hormuz, but only after a ceasefire.
