Lithuania has denied claims that its airspace was used to launch strikes against Russia
Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas stated that reports of the country’s airspace allegedly being used for drone strikes against Russia are untrue.
He made this statement on LRT.
According to the minister, Lithuania has not provided its airspace to any of the warring parties and does not plan to do so. He emphasized that such reports are part of a Russian disinformation campaign.
Kaunas noted that the aim of such statements is an attempt to drag the Baltic states and other eastern NATO members into the conflict.
He also stressed that Lithuania supports Ukraine but is not participating in the war against Russia. According to the minister, no requests have been received from Ukraine regarding the use of Lithuanian airspace, and such permission will not be granted.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense officially announced the purchase of new-generation Giraffe 1X radar stations from the Saab defense group.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda signed a law establishing a new military training ground in the Suvalkai Corridor and expanding another training site near the border with Russia. The decision is explained by the need to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities and contribute to NATO’s collective security.
