Lithuania has announced that it will not grant access to its airspace for Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico’s flight to Moscow on May 9.
This was announced by Deividas Matulionis, the Lithuanian president’s national security adviser.
According to him, this position is firm and will not change.
“We do not support states’ efforts to establish relations with an aggressor state. This is our clear moral stance,” he noted.
At the same time, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that no official request from Slovakia regarding the overflight has been received so far.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico sent a request to Poland for permission for his plane to fly to Moscow to participate in the May 9 events.
The Slovak leader confirmed receiving the refusal, calling the actions of EU member states unprecedented, but assured that he would use an alternative route.
