Macron confirmed Zelenskyy's participation in the G7 summit
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will attend the Group of Seven (G7) summit, which will take place from June 15 to 17 in the French city of Evian-les-Bains. The Ukrainian leader is scheduled to join the discussions on the morning of Tuesday, June 16.
This was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron during a meeting with representatives of civil society at the Élysée Palace.
According to the French leader, the main goal of the upcoming discussion with Volodymyr Zelenskyy is to restore alignment among G7 countries regarding comprehensive support for Ukraine in various aspects of the war launched by Russia. Macron emphasized that international partners must now coordinate joint actions on issues of immediate aid, future negotiations, and long-term security commitments.
The meeting of the leaders of the world’s leading nations will begin with a separate closed-door discussion of domestic and international crises directly among the seven heads of state of the participating countries. The next day, the Ukrainian head of state will join the summit. It is expected that during the session involving Ukraine, the main focus will be on intensifying military diplomacy and strengthening air defense to effectively repel ballistic attacks.
