Rain and thunderstorms are expected across Ukraine on August 26
On Wednesday, August 26, the weather in Ukraine will be unsettled. Rain and thunderstorms are expected in most regions, with daytime temperatures ranging from +21° to +30°. At the same time, some regions will see no precipitation, and mostly dry weather is forecast for Kyiv.
According to the forecast by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, August 26 in Ukraine will bring variable cloud cover. Moderate rain, and in some places heavy rain, is expected in the central regions, Transcarpathia, and Bukovina. Rain is also expected during the day in most southern regions and in the Kyiv region. In some places, the rain will be accompanied by thunderstorms.
No significant precipitation is forecast for the rest of the country. Thus, the weather will be quite varied: in some regions, the day will be rainy, while in others it will be mostly dry. The wind will be predominantly from the northeast, with speeds of 5–10 m/s.
What will the temperature be?
The night of August 26 will be quite cool. In most regions, temperatures will range from 14–19°, while in the northern part of the country, temperatures will drop to 8–13°. During the day, it will be coolest in the northern and western regions. There, temperatures will mostly range from 21–26°.
It will be warmest in southeastern Ukraine, where temperatures will rise to 25–30°. In other words, the heat won’t disappear completely, but it won’t affect the entire country anymore. In regions with rain and thunderstorms, it will feel noticeably cooler.
What will the weather be like in Kyiv?
In the capital, partly cloudy skies are expected on August 26, but with no significant precipitation. The wind will be from the northeast at 5–10 m/s. Overnight, temperatures in Kyiv will range from 11–13°. During the day, temperatures will reach 22–24°.
In the Kyiv region, the weather will also be mostly dry. The exception will be the southern part of the region, where brief showers are possible during the day, accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas. Temperatures in the region will range from 8–13° at night and 21–26° during the day.
What to Keep in Mind
Due to thunderstorms, the weather in some regions may change rapidly. Rain showers will be brief in some places, but precipitation may be significant in certain areas. Those planning trips or extended time outdoors should check the local forecast. This is especially true for the central, southern, and western regions, where the likelihood of rain is higher. At the same time, residents of Kyiv and most of the Kyiv region will most likely not need an umbrella. Most of the day is expected to be rain-free.
