"Metalist 1925" and "Veres" will finish their match in Rivne

The Ukrainian Premier League has officially announced the new venue and time for the postponed match of the 15th round between Kharkiv’s Metalist 1925 and Rivne’s Veres.

The match, which could not be completed last year, will take place on April 15 at Avangard Stadium.

Although the game will be played in Rivne, the Kharkiv team will be considered the nominal home team. The restart of the match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., which should provide a convenient time for fans and broadcasters.

The history of this rivalry began on December 7 of last year, when the teams met on the field in Zhytomyr. However, the match was halted as early as the 20th minute due to serious technical issues at the stadium.

The referee decided to call off the game for good after the stadium lost power and lighting for the third time.

The lack of stable power made it impossible to continue the match and ensure the safety of the participants.

The Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Ukrainian Football Association approved a settlement agreement the day before, which was signed by representatives of both professional clubs. This decision helped avoid lengthy legal disputes and court proceedings.

Under the agreement, the Rivne club withdrew its previous demands to award a technical defeat to Metalist 1925. This demonstrated a sportsmanlike approach to resolving the conflict between the rivals.

In return, the Kharkiv club’s management agreed to move the match to Rivne, which served as a compromise for both sides.

This format for the rematch will allow the winner to be determined directly on the soccer field in a fair contest.

As a reminder, one of the world’s best basketball players suffered an injury in the NBA.

The International Federation of Sport Climbing (World Climbing) has designated a number of Russian athletes as neutral, including members of the Russian Armed Forces and participants in competitions held in occupied Crimea.

2022 Olympic champion Victoria Karl received an 18-month suspension for violating anti-doping rules. The German athlete missed the 2026 Olympics and will not be able to compete until the end of November 2026.
