In Donetsk region, military personnel who were discharged from service using forged documents will face trial
Officials from the State Bureau of Investigations have concluded their investigation and filed indictments against three military personnel.
The men attempted to illegally discharge themselves from service using corruption schemes and forged medical documents.
All defendants in the case served in a unit in the Donetsk region. According to the investigation, “the servicemen purchased fake medical certificates,” which were intended to serve as a formal basis for their discharge from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The cost of such “services” on the black market was quite high. Investigators determined that “the cost of such ‘documents’ ranged from $3,000 to $5,000,” depending on the complexity of the diagnosis and the urgency of processing.
Two of the accused managed to carry out their plan and be discharged “for health reasons.” Afterward, they illegally received state benefits totaling over 20,000 hryvnias each, causing financial losses to the budget.
The third participant in the scheme was unable to see it through to the end. The military unit’s command “detected signs of forgery” in the documents in time, preventing the perpetrator from deserting under the guise of being ill.
Currently, all suspects have been formally charged. They are accused of using forged documents, evading military service during martial law, and fraud, which carries severe penalties.
It is worth noting that the damages caused to the state have already been fully compensated. Procedural oversight of the case is being carried out by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense in the Eastern Region, ensuring compliance with the law.
