One of Russia's largest oil refineries may remain shut down for another month — Reuters

The Russian oil refinery "Kirishinefteorgsintez," which was struck by drones on March 26, may only partially resume operations within a month.

This is reported by Reuters.

According to sources, three of the four main units, which account for about 60% of the plant’s capacity, may be restarted during this time.

At the same time, a full recovery will depend on the operation of the ports, which were also damaged and are affecting oil shipments.

It is expected that after repairs, the plant will be able to produce motor fuel, but exports will remain difficult.

In 2024, the plant produced 2 million tons of gasoline, 7.1 million tons of diesel fuel, 6.1 million tons of fuel oil, and 600,000 tons of bitumen.

On the night of March 26, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Kirishi Oil Refinery in the city of Kirishi, Leningrad Oblast, Russian Federation.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully struck a strategically important fuel and energy infrastructure facility of the Russian Federation. The target was the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim oil refinery, located in the city of Ufa, approximately 1,400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
