Weather in Ukraine on April 19–20: Frosts at night and rain
On Sunday, April 19, dry weather will prevail across Ukraine, though rain is expected in the east and southeast.
This is reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
According to the forecast, winds will be from the northwest, shifting to the east in the western part of the country, at 5–10 m/s.
Nighttime temperatures will range from 1–6°F, and in the northern regions, ground frosts of 0–3°F are possible. In the south and east, nighttime temperatures are expected to be 4–9°F. During the day, temperatures will rise to 9–14°F.
No precipitation is forecast for Kyiv on April 19. The wind will be northwesterly, 5–10 m/s. Temperatures will range from 4–6°F at night to 12–14°F during the day.
According to data from the Boris Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory, the highest temperature recorded on this day in Kyiv was in 1920—26.3°C, and the lowest was in 1979, when the temperature dropped to –4.7°C at night.
On Monday, April 20, Ukraine will also see mostly dry weather, but rain is possible in the afternoon on the Right Bank. An easterly wind is expected, blowing at 7–12 m/s.
Nighttime temperatures will range from 1–6°F, and in the northern, eastern, and most central regions, frosts of 0–3°F are possible both on the ground and, in some places, in the air. During the day, temperatures will range from 9–14°F, and in the west and north, from 5–10°F.
In Kyiv on April 20, there will be no precipitation at night, with rain expected during the day. Nighttime temperatures will be 2–4°F, and daytime temperatures 8–10°F.
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has released a forecast for the second month of spring, according to which temperatures and precipitation will remain within the climatic norm.
After a cold winter, Ukrainians are looking forward to spring warmth, but April will bring not only sunshine but also weather “swings.”
