Documents have been released in the UK regarding former ambassador Mendelson, who is accused of having ties to Epstein
Newly uncovered documents in the case of Peter Mandelson, the former British ambassador to the United States who has been accused of ties to Epstein, reveal exactly how he sought to secure that diplomatic post. In a personal letter to then-Foreign Secretary David Lammie, the politician assured him that the government would “never regret” such a decision.
This was reported by The Guardian.
In the text of the discovered letter, Mandelson emphasized that if his candidacy were approved, he would personally ensure that the leadership of the Foreign Office would have no regrets. The politician separately noted that working in Washington was to be his final role in public life. At the end of his letter to Devil Lemmy, he added that he would consider it a great honor to serve the minister and the current government in this position, confirming his full readiness to fulfill his diplomatic duties.
As a reminder, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that the country’s former ambassador to the U.S., Peter Mandelson, had repeatedly misled his team regarding his relationship with financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of sex crimes.
Peter Mandelson decided to leave the Labour Party to avoid causing it “further embarrassment” following new documents linking him to Jeffrey Epstein. Files released by the U.S. Department of Justice suggest that Epstein may have sent the former British minister £75,000.
