In Khmelnytskyi region, a man threatened with a patrol car
In the Kamianets-Podilskyi District of the Khmelnytskyi Region, law enforcement officers carried out a successful special operation codenamed “Grim” to apprehend a 26-year-old man. The armed suspect, wearing a bulletproof vest, threatened police officers with an automatic weapon while they were responding to a call.
The incident occurred on June 22, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the village of Stavysche. A patrol police crew arrived at a private residence following a report of domestic violence. An aggressive man, wearing a bulletproof vest and holding an automatic rifle, came out into the yard to confront the officers.
He immediately pointed the weapon at the officers and began making threats. To avoid provoking a shootout and to ensure the safety of nearby residents, the police tactically retreated to a safe distance and called for backup.
To neutralize the threat, the leadership of the National Police in the Khmelnytskyi region announced a special operation plan codenamed “Grim.” Special forces, professional negotiators, and specialized experts, led by Regional Police Chief Ivan Ishchenko, rushed to the scene. Thanks to the coordinated and prompt actions of law enforcement officers, the suspect was apprehended; none of the operation participants or civilians were injured. Currently, the detainee’s partner is safe and is being assisted by psychologists and investigators who are working to determine all the circumstances of the incident.
