Poland intercepted a Russian reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea
Polish fighter jets took to the air to intercept a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft that was flying over international waters in the Baltic Sea without a flight plan and with its transponder turned off.
According to Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the incident occurred approximately 60 km northwest of the city of Łeba. Two Polish fighter jets were deployed to escort the aircraft.
The minister emphasized that the Russian aircraft did not violate Polish airspace. At the same time, the country continues to closely monitor the situation in the Baltic Sea region.
