The fire at a factory in Nizhnekamsk, Russia, has been classified as the highest level of severity
The number of people injured in the explosion and massive fire at the Nizhnekamskneftekhim plant in Russia has risen to 50, with one fatality. The fire has been classified as a maximum-level emergency, as the area affected by the blaze has already exceeded 2,000 square meters.
According to Baza, the blast wave also damaged residential buildings closest to the plant, where windows were shattered and cracks were observed in window frames. The Nizhnekamsk city administration has opened a hotline for affected residents and to document damage to civilian infrastructure. Emergency services continue to arrive at the scene to address the consequences of the emergency.
Efforts are currently underway to contain the fire at the Russian industrial facility, while data on the number of injured and the extent of damage continue to be clarified. Thus, the incident caused significant damage both at the plant itself and in the surrounding residential area.
