The French president has spoken about ending his career

French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that he does not plan to remain in politics after completing his second term. This refers to 2027, when his presidency ends. According to him, politics was not his calling before this, and it will not be after.

Emmanuel Macron made these remarks during a meeting with students at a Franco-Cypriot school in Nicosia. The visit took place on the eve of an informal summit of European leaders. “I was not involved in politics before and will not be involved in it afterward,” Macron said, responding to questions from the students.

The president explained that he entered politics not as a professional politician. According to him, it was a way to implement ideas and influence the country’s development. That is why he eventually created his own political movement and ran for office. “It was to do things that I consider useful. It’s a fight to ensure that my country and Europe move forward,” he added.

Macron also acknowledged that the final stretch of his second term has been difficult. The hardest part, he said, is not so much making new decisions as it is defending what has already been achieved.

As a reminder, the French Constitution does not allow a president to serve more than two consecutive terms. Therefore, Macron will not be able to run again in 2027. So far, he has not specified what he plans to do after his political career ends.

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the absence of a meeting between French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish President Karol Nawrocki was a decision made by the French side.
