The Shehyni border crossing will suspend bus travel to Poland until the end of 2027
Extensive renovation work is set to begin at the "Shehyni–Medyka" border crossing on the Ukrainian-Polish border, which will prevent buses from crossing the border from Ukraine into Poland for nearly a year and a half.
It is noted that the repair work will begin on June 15, 2026, and will continue until November 2027.
Due to the reconstruction, bus traffic from Ukraine to Poland through the “Shehyni–Medyka” checkpoint will be completely suspended for the entire duration of the work.
At the same time, no changes are expected for passengers entering Ukraine from Poland.
“Due to the renovation, bus traffic from Ukraine to Poland through the Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint will not be permitted during this period. At the same time, bus traffic from Poland to Ukraine will continue as usual,” the Customs Service reported.
The agency recommends that citizens and international carriers plan their routes in advance and choose other border crossing points on the Ukrainian-Polish border for departure from Ukraine.
Carriers were also urged to promptly inform passengers about changes in the checkpoint’s operations to avoid delays and inconveniences during travel.
It is expected that the infrastructure modernization will improve operations at one of the busiest border crossings between Ukraine and Poland once the reconstruction is complete.
This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
Previously, technical issues with the Polish Border Guard’s database arose at the “Medyka” border crossing on the Ukrainian-Polish border, causing delays in processing vehicles and passengers.
At the Ukrainian-Polish border, the “Medika–Shehyni” border crossing point will temporarily operate with restrictions due to road repairs on the Polish side.
