Jacek Magiera, assistant coach of the Polish national team, has died suddenly
Jacek Magiera, assistant coach of the Polish national team, has passed away. He was 49 years old.
This was reported by the Polish Football Association.
According to preliminary reports, the coach fell ill while jogging this morning. He was hospitalized in Wrocław, but doctors were unable to save him.
Magiera joined the national team’s coaching staff in July 2025 and served as an assistant to Jan Urban.
As a head coach, he worked at Polish clubs, and his greatest achievement was winning the championship with Warsaw’s “Legia” in the 2016/17 season.
In the past, Magiera was also a professional soccer player and played, among others, for Legia, with whom he won the Polish championship.
A new stadium in Bucharest will be named in honor of Mircea Lucescu.
On April 5, Mircea Lucescu was placed in an induced coma following another episode of severe cardiac arrhythmia. He died on April 7.
