Russia struck a border crossing point on the border with Romania in the Odesa region

On the night of August 19–20, Russia launched a massive combined attack on Ukraine, striking not only Kyiv and the surrounding region but also the Odesa and Chernihiv regions.

According to him, in the Odesa region, Russian troops attacked a border crossing with Moldova using drones, while in the Chernihiv region, gas infrastructure was targeted.

Zelenskyy did not specify the consequences of the attack on the border crossing.

According to the Odesa Regional State Administration, Russian troops again carried out a massive attack on the southern part of the region overnight.

Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, emphasized that civilian infrastructure was the target of the Russian forces.

As a result of the strike, power outages were reported in several towns. As of this morning, approximately 13,000 households remained without power.

Additionally, two truck trailers carrying food caught fire at one of the locations. The fire was completely extinguished.

According to the Regional Military Administration, there were no casualties as a result of the attack.

The President of Ukraine noted that Russia had been preparing a massive attack for a long time, combining various types of weapons.

“The Russians prepared for a long time and combined various types of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones in order to inflict as much damage as possible on civilian infrastructure, Zelenskyy said.

According to him, damage has been reported in Kyiv and the surrounding region, as well as in the Odesa and Chernihiv regions.

The president also emphasized the need to strengthen Ukraine’s air and missile defenses.

“Unfortunately, while Moscow is investing in ballistic missiles and escalation, the world does not always respond appropriately to such strikes. And as long as Ukraine lacks sufficient anti-ballistic capabilities, Russia will not seriously consider peace. We are doing everything we can to ensure we have protection, and work on the FREYJA program continues every day. But the Patriot interceptors cannot be replaced yet, and we need them every day,” the head of state emphasized.

This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Over the course of August 19, Russian troops carried out 970 strikes on 57 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region. Six people were injured as a result of the enemy attacks.

As a reminder, Kyiv and Brovary were the main targets of the Russian Federation’s attack.

Starting in the evening of August 19, Russian troops attacked four districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region nearly 20 times. The occupiers used drones, aerial bombs, and artillery in their strikes.

Earlier, it was reported that an incident involving power grid infrastructure was recorded in the Brovary community as a result of the enemy attack.
