Russia attacked Ukraine with 135 drones overnight; air defense forces destroyed 107 targets
On the night of August 21, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with 135 strike drones of various types. Ukrainian air defenses destroyed or neutralized 107 enemy UAVs.
According to the Air Force, the attack began at 6:00 p.m. on August 20.
Russia deployed Shahed-type attack drones, including jet-powered ones, “Gerbera” drones, and “Parody” decoy drones.
The launches were carried out from Russian territory, as well as from the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk Oblast and Crimea—specifically from the areas of Kursk, Millerovo, Orel, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
The air attack was repelled by the Ukrainian Air Force, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
As of 8:00 a.m. on August 21, Ukrainian defenders had shot down or neutralized 107 enemy drones in the north, south, and east of the country.
At the same time, 27 attack UAVs were recorded striking 16 locations. Debris from downed drones fell at three additional locations.
At the time of the morning briefing, the attack was still ongoing, and several enemy drones remained in Ukrainian airspace.

On the evening of August 20 and overnight on August 21, Russian troops attacked the Nikopol, Synelnykiv, and Pavlohrad districts of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with drones. Local authorities reported on the consequences of the strikes.
On the night of August 20–21, Russian troops attacked the village of Lebyazhe in the Chuhuiv district with six strike drones. Two women were killed in the attack, two others were wounded, and private homes were damaged or destroyed.
On the night of August 21, Russia launched a massive drone strike on the Sumy region, targeting Sumy and Konotop. The shelling damaged residential buildings, and at least two people were injured.
