The U.S. and Iran may extend the ceasefire by two weeks – Bloomberg

The United States and Iran are exploring the possibility of extending the ceasefire for another two weeks to allow additional time to prepare a comprehensive peace agreement. The current ceasefire agreements are set to officially expire next Tuesday.

This was reported by Bloomberg.

Mediators are currently trying to organize technical-level talks to resolve key disagreements. The most difficult issues remain the resumption of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and restrictions on uranium enrichment by Iran. Success at this stage could pave the way for meetings between high-ranking officials from both countries.

U.S. officials note that Washington has not yet given final approval to extend the ceasefire. At the same time, sources indicate that neither Iran nor the U.S. is interested in resuming active hostilities. The parties are seeking to avoid another round of escalation, which threatens stability in the region and the energy security of Russia and other global players.

Trumphas announced a possible deal with Iran as early as this month.

Additionally, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance may once again lead the American delegation in potential negotiations with Iran.

As a reminder, negotiations between the U.S. and Iran began in Islamabad.

Trump also announced the “imminent opening” of the Strait of Hormuz.

As a reminder, U.S. President Donald Trump is demanding that European allies present concrete plans within a few days to ensure the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

As a reminder, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, during which the parties plan to finalize a definitive agreement.
