The Prosecutor General's Office has arrested suppliers of substandard military rations

A court has ordered two executives of commercial enterprises to be held in custody as a precautionary measure. They are suspected of large-scale fraud and of supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine with substandard and hazardous daily field rations totaling more than 71 million hryvnias. 

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

According to the court rulings, both defendants are eligible for release on bail, with the amounts corresponding to the scale of the losses inflicted on the state:

• The director of the first supplier company, who is accused of embezzling 62.5 million hryvnias in budget funds from the Ministry of Defense, has been ordered to be detained with the option of posting bail in the amount of 31.2 million hryvnias.

• The director of the other contractor firm, who is suspected of embezzling 8.6 million hryvnias from the defense budget, was ordered by the court to remain in custody with the option of posting bail in the amount of 4.3 million hryvnias.

According to the pre-trial investigation, the businessmen organized a scheme to supply dry rations to the defense ministry that did not meet established safety and nutritional standards. To conceal the violations and ensure the goods were accepted by military warehouses, the perpetrators accompanied the shipments with completely forged certificates and quality documents. The investigation is currently ongoing, and law enforcement officials are identifying other individuals who may have been involved in the procurement of unsafe food for the army.
