Iran and the U.S. are set to officially announce a peace deal in the coming hours – Al Arabiya

Iran and the U.S. are set to officially announce a peace deal in the coming hours – Al Arabiya

The United States and Iran, with Pakistan’s active mediation, have drafted a final agreement to cease full-scale hostilities. An official announcement regarding the agreement is expected in the coming hours following the conclusion of final consultations in Tehran and Washington.

This was reported by the Saudi broadcaster Al Arabiya, citing informed diplomatic sources.

The diplomatic breakthrough was made possible by the involvement of Pakistan’s top leadership, specifically Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Army Chief of Staff Asim Munir, who served as the primary intermediaries between the parties to the conflict. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also confirmed the positive developments in the negotiations, noting the presence of “good signs” on the path to de-escalation.

Al Arabiya journalists were granted exclusive access to the key points of the draft document, which aims to end the war in the Middle East:

  • Immediate ceasefire: The establishment of a comprehensive and unconditional ceasefire on all fronts—in air, land, and sea spaces.

  • Protection of infrastructure: A mutual commitment by the parties to completely refrain from strikes on military facilities, civilian neighborhoods, and critical economic infrastructure.

  • De-escalation of the information war: An official end to mutual military propaganda and media campaigns.

  • Respect for sovereignty: Affirmation of the basic principles of international law, the inviolability of borders, and non-interference in the internal politics of both states.

  • Freedom of navigation: Guaranteeing the unimpeded and safe passage of civilian and commercial vessels through the waters of the Persian Gulf, the strategic Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman.

  • Establishment of a monitoring mission: Launching a joint coordination mechanism to monitor compliance with the terms of the ceasefire and to promptly resolve any incidents.

  • Bilateral Roadmap: Commencing direct or indirect negotiations on the remaining contentious political issues within seven days of the agreement’s signing, as well as initiating the phased lifting of U.S. economic sanctions in exchange for Iran’s clear fulfillment of its defense and nuclear commitments.

The agreement is based on the principles of the UN Charter and will enter into full force immediately upon the simultaneous public confirmation of its terms by representatives of the U.S. and Iranian governments. Currently, global markets are awaiting official statements from the leaders of the countries involved, which are expected to stabilize the security and energy situation in the Caribbean and Middle East regions.

Earlier, Iran announced a new “control” zone in the Persian Gulf, which, according to its version, partially covers the waters of the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi sharply rejected these claims, calling them unrealistic and provocative. Against this backdrop, tensions in the region have noticeably risen again.

Trump is willing to wait a few more days for Iran to provide a proper response.
