Trump has made a new statement regarding Iranian oil — Reuters

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States has removed “millions of barrels” of oil from Iran. At the same time, the American leader warned that Washington could deal very harsh blows to Iran if the parties fail to reach a peace agreement. According to him, a diplomatic settlement remains the preferred option.

“We are going to attack them (Iran—ed.), and attack very hard,” Trump told reporters at the White House, referring to the Apache helicopter shot down by Iran over the Strait of Hormuz.

He warned that Iran would face a devastating strike as early as Wednesday.

The president also announced that the United States is exporting oil from Iran. “I’m announcing this for the first time today, but we’re exporting millions of barrels of oil, millions of barrels every night,” he said.

According to Trump, the current market price of oil is being maintained precisely because of the export of crude from Iran.

“Millions of barrels of oil have been exported, and that is why the price is $85–90 per barrel, not $250,” the White House chief stated, without revealing any details of these operations.

He assured that the United States still seeks to reach an agreement with Iran: “We want a deal that is substantial; we want a deal that works.”

Trump added that Iran has already agreed not to build nuclear weapons, but the deal still needs to be signed.

Earlier, Iran launched a missile strike on the Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, where U.S. military personnel and contractors were stationed. The attack resulted in minor injuries among the people present, as well as damage to American drones. The incident occurred amid U.S. attempts to negotiate an extension of the ceasefire with Tehran.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is alive and continues to interact with his inner circle, though he does so cautiously and primarily through written messages and intermediaries. Officials in Washington note that his activity has been increasing recently.
