Over the past week, 15 targeted Russian strikes on gas stations have been recorded in Kharkiv
City officials report that Russian drones have repeatedly attacked gas stations in Kharkiv over the past week, primarily targeting the gas pumps on the premises.
In particular, Mayor Ihor Terekhov made this statement on May 4, according to an Ob'yektiv correspondent.
According to him, the enemy is using “V2U”-type drones equipped with artificial intelligence for the attacks, which are pre-programmed specifically to target gas stations.
“There is no cause for panic. You saw today that all gas stations that are undamaged are operating, and cars can refuel,” Terekhov said.
The mayor emphasized that people need to be careful. He also noted that gas station owners need to build certain protective structures to be able to cover the gas dispensers installed at these stations, since virtually all the strikes targeted them.
“It is very important to have protection; this is not the city council’s prerogative, but rather that of the military administration together with the military, as well as the gas station owners. I have appealed to them to protect their stations—this is very important,” Terekhov noted.
He recalled that the Russians had been striking railways, transformer substations, and critical infrastructure. Terekhov added that “it’s now the gas stations’ turn.”
As a reminder, Russian drones attacked the Mykolaiv region again overnight. Energy infrastructure was targeted, leaving some settlements without power.
In addition, the Zaporizhzhia region endured hundreds of air and ground attacks over the past 24 hours. There are casualties and injuries, including a child among the victims.
On May 2, Russian troops attacked Kherson and the region, killing two people and wounding 18 others.
