On the morning of April 15, a judge of the Dniprovskyi District Court of Kyiv handed down a verdict in the high-profile case involving the purchase of equipment for shelters at inflated prices.

This was reported during a live broadcast from the court.

According to the court’s verdict, Olga Drozdova, head of the administrative and economic department of the Education Department of the Dniprovskyi District State Administration in Kyiv, was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment with a 3-year ban on holding positions involving official managerial and administrative-economic functions, as well as a 7-year sentence with the same restrictions and the confiscation of property belonging to her as private property.

The court ultimately ruled to impose a prison sentence of 7 years, by absorbing the less severe punishment into the more severe one. She is barred from holding positions involving the performance of official managerial and administrative-economic functions for a period of 3 years, and the confiscation of property belonging to her as private property is ordered.

In addition, the court ordered Drozdova to pay 462,724 hryvnias to the state as compensation for material damages. Furthermore, an additional 1,349,595 hryvnias will be collected from Drozdova in favor of the state pursuant to the prosecutors’ claim.

In a comment to our reporter, the prosecutors stated that they would file an appeal, considering the sentence lenient. In their opinion, the prison term for Olga Drozdova should be increased to nine years.

Drozdova’s attorney stated that their team has not yet agreed on further steps.

As a reminder, on Tuesday, April 14, the court held closing arguments between the prosecution and the defense. After they concluded, the court proceeded to render its decision.
