In Germany, Bundeswehr paratroopers who were stranded in trees were rescued
In the German city of Celle, firefighters carried out a successful rescue operation to save two paratroopers from the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) who became stuck in the treetops while jumping at a military training area in Scheuen.
This was reported by Spiegel.
The emergency call was received by the Celle Fire Department late on Tuesday evening, May 26. Both soldiers were at a considerable height, which required the use of specialized equipment for their evacuation.
The rescue operation proceeded in the following stages:
Rescue of the soldier: a male paratrooper who was stuck at a height of about six meters was rescued using an extendable swivel ladder.
Rescue of the female soldier: The woman, who was much higher up—at a height of about ten meters—was evacuated using a portable ladder.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the rescue workers and Bundeswehr representatives, both paratroopers were successfully brought to the ground. The soldiers sustained no injuries or harm as a result of the incident. At this time, official representatives of the fire department and the training ground command are not commenting on the exact causes that led to the paratroopers’ failed landing.
