In Kyiv, an official at the Education Agency overpaid nearly ₴700 thousand for equipment
Under the procedural guidance of juvenile prosecutors from the Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv, a suspect has been notified of charges against an official who was responsible for procurement at the Kyiv City Educational Agency, a municipal enterprise.
According to the investigation, in 2025, the municipal enterprise procured educational equipment for biology classrooms at educational institutions in the capital.
However, the tender process took place without proper competition, as only one bidder participated in the bidding, and that bidder was subsequently declared the winner.
After the procurement was completed, the parties signed a contract worth over 6 million hryvnias.
The investigation revealed that the cost of the purchased equipment was significantly inflated compared to market prices. According to the forensic report, the overpayment amounted to nearly 700 thousand UAH, resulting in losses to the budget.
In connection with the identified violations, the official has been notified of the charges against her. Law enforcement authorities have classified her actions as embezzlement of budget funds.
The pretrial investigation is ongoing. Under Ukrainian law, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
Earlier in Kyiv, an official from the municipal enterprise “Kyivavtoshlyakhmist” was notified of suspicion regarding an overpayment to a contractor during the repair of the South Bridge. According to the investigation, the city paid 2.5 million hryvnias for work that was not actually completed in full.
In Kyiv, the deputy head of the Desnianskyi District Road Maintenance Utility will stand trial on charges of official negligence during the procurement of road barriers.
