Ukrainian drones have knocked out 40% of Russia's oil export capacity – Reuters

About 2 million barrels per day of Russian oil exports have been blocked due to Ukrainian attacks, the detention of tankers, and damage to infrastructure.

According to Reuters estimates, this accounts for at least 40% of Russia’s export capacity. The main reasons for the reduction were drone strikes on the ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga, delays of ships in Europe that disrupted shipments from Murmansk, as well as Russia’s own strike on the Druzhba oil pipeline, through which fuel was supplied to Hungary and Slovakia.

This massive disruption to supplies in Russia’s modern history occurred against the backdrop of global oil prices rising above $100 per barrel due to the war with Iran. Currently, Russia continues uninterrupted pipeline exports to China, shipments of ESPO crude via the port of Kozmino, and operations of the Sakhalin projects. Supplies of approximately 300,000 barrels per day to oil refineries in Belarus are also continuing. The loss of a significant portion of maritime exports substantially limits Moscow’s revenues during the active phase of the aggression against Ukraine.

As a reminder, drones attacked a strategic oil terminal in the Leningrad region.

The two largest Russian oil terminals—the ports of Ust-Luga and Primorsk—have suspended shipments of oil and petroleum products. This was caused by massive attacks by Ukrainian drones.
