A Ukrainian An-124 Ruslan landed in Budapest

On Saturday, a Ukrainian An-124 “Ruslan” heavy transport aircraft, one of the largest cargo planes in the world, landed in Budapest. Details about what was on board have not yet been disclosed.

The Antonov Design Bureau’s An-124 “Ruslan” with registration number UR–82029 arrived in Budapest from Leipzig.

The An-124 is one of the largest production cargo aircraft in the world. It is capable of carrying over 120 tons of cargo, which is why it is regularly used for special shipments that cannot be carried out by conventional cargo aircraft.

No one knows for sure what is on board, but the arrival of such flights usually generates a lot of interest, as the An-124 often transports large-scale industrial equipment, power generation equipment, specialized machinery, or other valuable cargo.

After it landed in Budapest, aviation enthusiasts immediately began speculating about what special cargo had arrived in Hungary this time, but no official information has been released yet.

Additionally, the publication Blikk, citing comments on the Flightradar24 HUN social media page, reports that the An-124 may return to Hungary today around 4:45 p.m. (5:45 p.m. Kyiv time).

According to one commenter, the An-124 may have departed from Estonia for Budapest at 3:15 p.m. Hungarian time. The commenter also noted that the plane is likely transporting equipment related to NATO’s international medical exercise Vigorous Warrior 2026, reports vg.hu.

Recently, an unusual incident occurred at an airport in France: a plane took off without 150 passengers. The passengers were already heading to the gate but did not have time to go through passport control and remained in the terminal after the plane departed.

United Airlines turned the plane around due to a suspicious Bluetooth signal — The Independent.
