Video: "I see no reason to consider you a political leader," attorney Shevchuk told Fedorov
Ukrainian attorney Oleksiy Shevchuk publicly addressed former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov following Fedorov’s video message to Ukrainians. In his post, Shevchuk asked Fedorov a series of questions regarding his political views, his work in the government, and his potential stance on developments that could affect the country’s internal stability.
Shevchuk stated that he has no personal grievances against Fedorov and called him a “talented manager,” but emphasized that statements about possible elections require more specific answers from the politician.
“If a person has worked in the government for years and does not speak out against corruption, the question of responsibility arises,” the lawyer wrote.
He also raised the issue of Fedorov’s personal choice following his departure from public service.
“If, after leaving public service, he does not contribute to the country’s defense—it raises the question of personal choice,” Shevchuk noted.
Separately, the attorney asked about Fedorov’s political ideology.
“What political ideology do you identify with? I, for example, am a neoconservative. What about you?” he asked the former minister.
Shevchuk also stated that Fedorov should provide clear explanations regarding the possible use of force for political purposes, as well as decisions that, according to him, have already had public consequences, particularly at the international level.
“If you want to convince people that you are not using force for political purposes, this requires clear explanations,” the attorney emphasized.
At the same time, Shevchuk called for preventing scenarios of internal destabilization in Ukraine amid a full-scale war.
“We have been living in a state of full-scale war with Russia for five years. At this point, any scenarios of internal destabilization seem irresponsible,” his post reads.
In this regard, the lawyer asked Fedorov a direct question: “Are you involved in any processes that could destabilize the state?”
At the end of his statement, Shevchuk expressed his own political assessment of Fedorov.
“And to be frank—today I see no reason to consider you a political leader to whom the future can be entrusted,” he stated.
Shevchuk emphasized that this is his personal position: “This is my position. And this is my answer.”

Earlier, Mykhailo Fedorov addressed Ukrainians in a video message in which, among other things, he raised questions about the country’s future and political processes. Oleksiy Shevchuk’s response was a public reaction to that message.
