An occupier who tortured people during the occupation of Kherson has been convicted

The Kherson City Court sentenced Russian police captain Alexander Medelsky to 10 years in prison for torturing civilians during the temporary occupation of the city.

The Russian security officer, known by the call sign “Green,” directly participated in the illegal interrogation of a former Ukrainian police officer, demanding information about the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

During several hours of torture in a temporary detention facility, the occupier beat the victim with a rubber baton until he lost consciousness, threatened to cut off his limbs with an angle grinder, and simulated a shooting. The trial regarding violations of the laws and customs of war was conducted under a special in absentia procedure; therefore, the sentence will be calculated from the moment of the convicted person’s actual detention.

This was reported by The Book of Torturers of the Ukrainian People.

Previously, based on the evidence, the Security Service of Ukraine sentenced two FSB agents to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property; they were exposed in late October 2025 while coordinating Russian airstrikes on Dnipro.

The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv found a soldier of the 1st Marine Company of the 1of the 40th Separate Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Armed Forces guilty of a war crime and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
