Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has ideas on how to force Russia to end the war
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has several ideas on how to force Russia to end the war, but that this would require a meeting with the American side.
He said this in an interview with the New York Post.
According to Zelenskyy, there are prospects for a peaceful settlement, despite the complexity of the situation.
“I believe that there are prospects for a peaceful settlement in Russia’s war against Ukraine. It must be understood: Ukraine wants peace, President Trump wants peace—therefore, we are allies on this issue,” he noted.
The president emphasized that Ukraine desires peace more than Russia does, while the Kremlin is trying to create the opposite impression for the international audience.
“Putin is doing everything he can to make it seem as though he wants peace, while Ukraine does not. These are the signals he is sending to America,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that it is necessary to constantly seek ways to reach a peace agreement.
“We must look for options for a peace agreement every day. We need to meet with the Americans. We have a few more ideas on how we can bring this war to an end,” the head of state concluded.
The process of diplomatic settlement of the war in Ukraine, initiated by the U.S., has effectively stalled due to a shift in Washington’s priorities.
The EU may be authorized to negotiate with Russia to stop the war in Ukraine. Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever believes that as long as Moscow does not renounce its aggression, other methods, such as arms supplies or economic pressure, will not work without the U.S.
