Rising demand for software engineers driven by cheaper development thanks to artificial intelligence

Citadel Securities has released a chart showing a growing number of vacancies for software engineers. As programming becomes more affordable due to artificial intelligence, companies may require many more engineers to develop a larger volume of software.

According to a Harvard Business Review study, artificial intelligence does not reduce the workload but intensifies it. An eight-month field study at a US tech company revealed that AI increased employee workload because it filled gaps in work, prompting staff to take on additional tasks previously outsourced.

This indicates that automation does not necessarily reduce the need for specialists but can actually increase it, suggesting that demand for software engineers is likely to continue rising in the near future.
