Reduction in shifts and inventory
According to the publication, in June Lucid reduced the number of assembly shifts at its AMP-1 plant in Arizona from two to one. After that, the company sought to sell as many vehicles as possible that were already in inventory.
Lucid produces the Air sedan and the Gravity SUV. The company said demand for the seven-seat Gravity continued to recover after a vehicle recall that halted shipments of the model for nearly a month.
Operational reset
Earlier this year, Lucid reduced production and laid off 18% of its employees as part of an operational reset designed to improve cash flow by $1.4 billion this year. The launch of the midsize Cosmos crossover, expected to cost about $50,000, was postponed until next year.
